Fossify app has buttons to export and import SMS and MMS as JSON, related to Benjamin-Loison/android_packages_apps_Messaging/issues/17#issuecomment-2561987210.

However, it does not seem to contain MMS images after verifying. As have not seen long lines, have not found ==, %3(D), base64 and mms and jq .[].backupType | sort only shows sms.

Furthermore, SMS and MMS are shared with the default SMS and MMS app.

Contrarily to what I remember it does not seem available on F-Droid, see F-Droid: com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore.

tmo1/sms-db is from the same author and has 33 stars

sms_ie seems to correctly export SMS (body and phone number) and MMS (images, including references to them it seems).

It seems that sms-ie restored correctly the call log and SMS/MMS (less correctly, see Benjamin_Loison/sms-ie/issues/2) on LineageOS of Redmi Note 9 on the default apps, related to termux#149.
