Cannot access / use templates on Budibase Cloud (no option to choose template) #17481

Hi, I’m having an issue with templates / quick start templates on Budibase Cloud, not on a self-hosted instance. When I try to use a template (for example the IT Help Desk template via this link: https://budibase.app/builder?template=app/it-help-desk), the application does not open with that template and I also don’t see any option to choose a template when creating a new app. What I see
So effectively I cannot use any template at all on Cloud. What I already tried
In the browser console I only see repeated warnings like: Expected vs actual behaviour
Actual:
Could you please let me know:
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @damianpason Currently, templates are inaccessible and we apologise for the inconvenience of this. We are looking to reinstate this feature: #17487 In order to bypass this, you can import the export bundle of a templated app note this will overwrite any applications within the workspace you are in. I've attached the export bundle for the template you were looking at To import an export bundle, Navigate to settings > general > Import whilst in your workspace Thanks, |

Hi, @Thomasinn thank you for your quick reply and for providing an alternative way to install the template – thanks to that I’m now able to use it. My original goal was to be able to install several templates one by one until I find an example that contains the kind of solution I’m looking for, so that I don’t have to keep asking in community groups or searching around every time. This information doesn’t seem to be very easily accessible – and I can also see that some parts of the documentation describe how things used to work, while the current version behaves a bit differently, so it’s hard to get a clear, up-to-date answer. Concretely, I’m trying to configure rules like:
I understand that this should now be configured in the permissions section for specific credentials, but it’s not clear to me how to set it up correctly. I’ve been trying to do it on my own, but I haven’t managed to get it working yet. That’s why I wanted to browse through a few of your templates, hoping to find one that already has such rules configured, so that I could simply inspect how it’s done. Could you please point me to a specific knowledge base article, documentation section, or example app/template that shows, step by step, how to configure these rules in the current version (for example, for a status column)? Thank you in advance for your help! |
