Lates Tonexcontroller bin file too large for ESP32-S3 Zero Mini

Hi, I recently had a problem where I couldn't flash a ESP32-S3 Zero Mini (I kept getting an error). After a few emails with Waveshare support (thanks folks) they spotted the bin file is 6.3mb and that exceeds the 4mb flash memory of the ESP32-S3 Zero Mini. I managed to find my earlier download and the bin file is under 2.5mb. Have I downloaded the wrong bin file?

Hi. I checked the latest file, screen shot below, it is about 2.5MB.
6.3MB is actually bigger than any of the other platforms. Can you recall where you downloaded it from?

I can't remember where I downloaded it from, I would have thought it was from gifthub but it might have been from a link from the Pirate Midi site (they make a controller). I have attached a screen shot of the files and the bin file was 6.3mb but I have now deleted it so i don't try it again

I have found a copy of my oversized download folder, but I still don't know where I got it from!

The file date is a clue. November 2024 was very early on for development. The 4.3B release was about 6MB at this time. I think this will be the answer.

Very strange as I didn't have the ESP32-S3 Zero in 2024! I wish I knew where I found the download. A quick question, and thank you for your help: is there a TonexOneController bin file that has the wifi disabled to reduce the power requirement of the ESP32-S3 Zero? Regards Keith Marriott

it might be that you purchased the Zero later, but downloaded an older release that I did in 2024.

There is no bin file with WiFi disabled, however the default setting automatically switches off the WiFi one minute after power on, if nothing connects to it. The WiFi transmit power setting also defaults to 25%, so the effect on power consumption is minimal and only for the first minute.
