I just define a function. There should not be any output here, but there's a big blank space with nothing.

I plot a figure. There's also a big blank space.

Same problem here under Debian 12 (octave 7.3.0-2, python3-octave-kernel 0.32.0-4). Also it takes dozens of seconds to print the spaces, which make it unusable. Any workaround?

Same here on arch (6.8.1-zen1-1-zen), octave v. 8.4.0, kernel v. 0.35.1 (installed via conda-forge pyhd8ed1ab_0).
