endpoint specification documentation?

I'm not finding much in the way of whether or not there's a mechanism to override endpoints. I did find this:
https://github.com/IBM-Cloud/bluemix-go/blob/master/session/session.go#L83 -- but it's not clear what that's for without a lot of digging through the code.
