Wow, I once envisioned something like this in one of my other small projects—it was like a roundtable discussion among large language models, with an arbitrator, discussants, and challengers. Centered on a specific topic, the discussion would progress through different stages of consensus, deepening at each node. But later I shelved it, since the project was relatively hard to implement, the potential audience might not be broad, and the deployment itself was rather difficult.

Agent hat-switching is likely a partial solution for this. Throw in some temporal disconnect (one side talk today, another side talk tomorrow in a new instance/session) could make it even easier. It's a hack solution for the real thing, but it is good enough for now. Subagents applied to writing is a different flavor tho.
Have them sign their names like it it a forum, and each side also gets to unload their knowledge into individual notes, but shared among folders (maybe a split subfolder for cleanliness?). They would engage in dialogue similar to mail change and blog "response post", where some knowledge is in a shared "wiki" and some in an agent-centric "blog".
Subagents, multi-session operations, as long as they are not actively overwriting each other at the same time, it should be safe... or maybe a turn-based or clock-based system can work?
