How to Replace the syncronised alert(), input() etc #277

Hi, don't think your functions return promises and this seems to conform it: #126
I'm no JS expert but I've worked out how to use promises.
Neither the documentation or examples show how lets say the standard alert() can be replaced. I need to wait while the dialog is displayed (and responded to). I'd normally use a discussion forum but if one exists I haven't seen it yet (and no luck googling so far).
