Crash when applying TextureSet to model

Sometimes I get a crash when I try to apply a TextureSet to a model

I started getting errors inside the kernel quite often. I need to understand how to reproduce this for me.

If I don't load any plugins, and just work in the empty CK with the default forms, I can create and assign texture sets successfully. However, attempting to assign the NullTextureSet causes a crash:
