_DEVICEINPUT on Mac and Linux doesn't work #646

Describe the bug
I've tried using _DeviceInput to enable joystick support in MacOS based on examples from Terry Ritchie's Tutorial, but the command fails. The older commands Strig and Stick do work as expected. I don't run Linux, but forum members mentioned that _DeviceInput doesn't work there either.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Go to '...'
- Click on '....'
- Scroll down to '....'
- See error
