Questions about GID # and Cache Count Resolve numbers

First I want to say that I am incredibly happy with Immich-MediaKit! Thank you so much for making it available. It's helping me finally get my library under control.

I've been going through the library of my first user (20,000 pictures in total) for a couple days now and things are going great, but I have a few questions that I still haven't figured out and I'd appreciate knowing the answer before I tackle my wife's account (100,000+ pictures... lol).

Can someone explain the "Resolve" numbers here? As I've gone through them the first number has gone up (this seems to be close to the current GID I'm on, but not exactly), and the second number has gone down (I'm guessing it's something like the total number of possible duplicates remaining). But I'm confused how the first number is now higher than the second. I was expecting that once the numbers equaled each other then I would be done with my first pass, but clearly not.

Can someone explain the GID# to me? I assumed it's basically a unique ID for each photo, but then I'm confused by what's listed when you're on the comparison screen. At the top it says there are 3 similar photos for #12873, but none of the 3 photos shown are #12873. Does that mean there's actually a 4th photo (the "original") that I'm not being shown? I assume not, but I'm just confused.

Sometimes the listed GID# is one of the pictures (example below), but more often than not it isn't.

Related to the above, I also occasionally get ones that say there's 1 matching photo, but it's only 1 photo in the first place. There's no duplicate to compare it to. I'm not sure if this is a bug or, going back to my confusion above, if there really is some other photo that it's matching against and it just doesn't show me that one (that would be weird though so I suspect it's a bug).

I have a suggestion as well (I know putting it here isn't the ideal spot but just throwing it out there): I've noticed that Immich-MediaKit can tell if a photo is favorited or not, and I think it can tell if it's in an album or not. It would be great if the Auto Selection options allowed you to use those (like auto select if it's favorited).

Thanks again for a great app! It feels amazing to be doing all digital cleansing.

Hi, thanks for the detailed questions and kind words!

Q1: Resolve Numbers

The numbers represent:

• Left: Processed assets (simOk = 1)
• Right: Pending assets (simOk = 0)

Left + Right = Total vectorized assets (fixed total).

When Left exceeds Right, it means you've processed more than half - this is normal. Done when Right reaches 0.

Start:    [Left=0    ] [Right=5000]  ← All pending
Working:  [Left=3500 ] [Right=1500]  ← Left > Right is normal
Done:     [Left=5000 ] [Right=0   ]  ← Complete

Q2: GID# Display

Root cause:
When searching from an asset with no duplicates, the system automatically finds the next asset with duplicates. However, the message was displaying the starting search ID instead of the actual group root.

Fixed:
The message now correctly shows the actual group root ID.

EDIT: Single Photo Display

Root cause:
When a photo was deleted, other photos' similarity references weren't being cleaned up, causing orphaned "1 match" displays.

Fixed:
Deleted photos now properly clean up their references in other assets.

Q3: Favorited & In Album

Implemented. Two new options added to Auto Selection settings:

• Favorited: Prefer photos marked as favorite in Immich
• In Album: Prefer photos that belong to albums

Both use the same 0-5 weight system as other criteria. Higher weight = stronger preference to keep that photo.

Dang, I wasn't expecting all of that. And especially not so quickly! I really appreciate it!

I ran through ~300 matches with the newest version and everything seems to be working great. Thanks again!
