OpenRouter models and input field issues

Model list not updating: New OpenRouter models are not reloading automatically on the page. For instance, Gemini 3.0 Flash Preview (without date) is currently missing from the list.

Text box focus issue: The input field only activates if you click specifically on the "Write something" placeholder. It would be much better if clicking anywhere within the text box area allowed us to start typing.

Hey, sorry for the late response. In the model catalog you can hit the refresh button and it should update the list of models. or3-chat caches the model list for 24 hours so that we don't flood the openrouter api.

I've noticed the search functionality in the model catalog is unreliable, so I will be updating that as well.

Also I will look into the focus issue this week.

I fixed the text box focusing issue. If you click anywhere in the input that is not an interactive element it will now focus the editor.

I'm hoping the refresh button worked for you. I will be polishing the model catalog in the next week or two if not.

I've just finished a large update that completely changes the theme and adds a workflow editor and tool calling, among other changes. If you prefer the old theme let me know, I can set it to the default theme. I created a very minimal theme as a base for people to modify and make their own themes.

TBH, I liked the previous theme. It would be great if users could pick it instead.
I know I could recreate it by adjusting the colors in the settings, but it feels a bit complicated since the configuration is too granular.

Ok, I will look into the model refresh logic tonight. It is working on my end, but I'll see if I can find anything. May I ask what browser you use?

I will add a theme picker in the dashboard settings, but it may take me a week. I've made significant changes to the layout, so I will need to update the retro theme.

Also, good call on the theme builder logic. I also find it much too complicated. I'll refine it down to the core color tokens, and try and come up with a way to show examples components as you adjust colors. This way you can see what's happening in real time.

The errors when trying to chat with them are: ‘Multi-modal output is not supported. Image generation is not available in your country.’ The second issue appears when ‘Enable web search’ is turned on.

I’ve tested the same models in other front-ends (Big-AGI, LobeChat) using OpenRouter, and they work normally.

As for the theme builder, maybe a way to make it easier to understand would be to briefly mention (or show with images) which section of the theme will change.

I'm curious if you are self hosting big-agi and lobechat or using a the version they host?

My theory is that because all API calls go directly from your browser to Openrouter you are getting these restrictions. Big-Agi and Lobechat probably have a backend server hosted somewhere without such restrictions that your calls get routed to before hand.

Luckily, I will be releasing a cloud version that will do this. It should be released within the next 7 days along with the updated retro theme.

The theme customization enhancements will not be ready for at least two weeks.
