Support for react 19

React 19 has been stable since December yet hydrogen still has outdated package requirement. This is the only package that is blocking normal npm install, we have to rely on --force or --legacy-peer-deps. Can we get this repos package requirement bumped?

Yes, coming soon. We are working our way through the latest, react-router, vite and react!

We’re blocked because our monorepo ends up pulling multiple React versions,. Even a rough sense of direction would help us decide whether to wait or pursue a different approach. Thanks!

I’m about to start a new Hydrogen storefront and I’m hesitant to base it on a stack that’s effectively a year behind the current React/Vite/React Router ecosystem.

I’ve also noticed the Hydrogen Demo Store template seems quite out of date, which makes it hard to know how future-proof Hydrogen is for new builds.

Could you share whether there’s a timeline for updating Hydrogen to the current versions?

Which brings Hydrogen Demo Store template as up to date as possible on React 18 with a migration to the new react-router v7.

However I would have liked to have been able to go further and upgrade to React 19 but issues with various supporting libraries for Hydrogen are preventing me from doing so

Hydrogen version 2025.7.3 is now released, with React 19 support! Vite 7 and other package bumps like that are on our roadmap, along with getting Hydrogen up to date with the latest Storefront API versions.

This React 19 upgrade took way too long, and we are striving to do better for the Hydrogen community in 2026.
