Friendly AI attacking player #70

Hi there,
Just got the mod working with Dhewm this weekend to play some co-op with my buddy.
Everything seems to be working correctly except one issue. We played through the first level, and there are a handful of sentry bots (the small spider-like robots that assist the player).
It would appear that the friendly AI is incorrectly appraising me as an enemy. Therefore, every time I am in proximity of a sentry bot, or within line of sight, they attack instantly. This is a huge impediment to playing the game, as there are many portions where you have the assistance of a sentry bot.
I was able to slog through the first level, as there's a minimal amount of interaction with sentry bots. However, this is not my first playthrough, and I know there are portions later in the game that will be virtually unplayable with this bug.
Can anyone give any guidance on how to fix? Is it because the game thinks I am on the enemy team? The armor color doesn't matter right?
For reference. I am not the host, my friend is hosting. I am also loading the librecoop mod from the mod menu. Lastly, we are using a Hamachi server for LAN play.
