[BUG] Firefox no longer recognizing colors

Describe The Bug

Okay so I use 5 accounts (I know, irredeemable) and use the same image on Firefox, Edge, Chrome, and Opera between 2 computers. The photo is the same for each browser, yet for some reason a couple days ago on Firefox when starting my new project, it just stopped recognizing all of the colors that aren't black and white. The only thing I could think of that caused this is that I had "Wplace Dark Mode" turned on when I created the template again. However, I have turned off WDM, removed it from Tampermonkey, removed Blue Marble from Tampermonkey, reinstalled tampermonkey, and tried to reproduce it on my other browers, and I still get a Greyscale palette ONLY on Firefox. The pixels are physically in wplace, I can see them and it's still accurate placement, but the colors are slightly off what's shown on all the other browsers and it's causing Blue Marble to not recognize the colors properly. I'm adding below the image, though it's not this image only, now my previous templates colors aren't being recognized either. It's as though whatever is reading the pixels from after uploading to Blue Marble is reading the colors wrong.

Also it doesn't show any correct data that it should, and I'll post that here as well.

This stuff worked just fine until a few days ago, and I don't know why.

Below is also the issue I've posted in color_converter_wplace's github because it might be additional helpful information. The Converter is creating an entirely different template from Opera, and the image colors are more saturated but extremely different when creating on Firefox-

Okay so I've stumbled across a bizarre issue, I have 5 accounts across 4 different browsers, and I've found something strange. On Firefox, I've been having an issue with Blue Marble where recently templates have been unable to recognize the correct colors from the templates I've been making on Firefox. I've been doing some testing and I've found this tool to be a partial cause of my issue. For some reason, I use this image-

on Opera where my main wplace account is, but for some reason I've found that the templates I make on Opera don't work properly on Firefox anymore. Now I was able to remake the template I've been using on all the other browsers from the original image with perfect accuracy which can be read by all the other browsers EXCEPT Firefox-

But for SOME reason when I go to make the exact same template on Firefox, I get something entirely different-

But it CAN be read by firefox and Blue Marble shows the colors accurately. I'm not sure what exactly is causing this issue, but for some reason Firefox creates and reads totally different colors from other Browsers.

Expected Behavior

Template should function on Firefox like it does on every other browser

Blue Marble uses the native browser code to display templates (OffscreenCanvas). If the browser changes aspects of all images displayed, then that will also affect the images used in Blue Marble. Specifically, it is predicted that the color space is being modified by Firefox, which changes the input/output RGB color, which puts colors in the "Other" category since Blue Marble identifies colors as certain RGB values with no tolerance. Shades are handled slightly different from hue/color in image processing, so the shades having no issue suggest something like an issue with the color space

My friend, I have been dealing with this exact same issue for MONTHS now, and I've finally found a fix-!!

I didn't realise it was Firefox being the culprit (in that it changes our images' colour values), but after figuring it out with the help of this post, I've found THIS fix which worked for me:

1. Type about:config into the address bar for your Firefox browser (accept the warning, blah, blah, blah)
2. Search for gfx.color_management.mode.
3. Change the value from 2 to 0.
4. Close and reopen Firefox
5. The colours are fixed now!!!

Edit: Oh my days, thank you thank you thank you for this post. I've been living with just [- Black - Other - White] for an eternity. I'm finally able to tell between Dark Gray and Dark Slate now!! 😭

This worked! No idea why it randomly changed last week but this was helpful!

Edit: this resolved only part of the issue though. Now it recognizes the colors in the dropdown but in the map the colors are still slightly off and unchecking the colors doesn't actually hide them.

• I found out this happening when using _BlueMarble 0.85 and 0.86 on Mozilla Firefox 144.0

• This does not happen on Chromium 141.0.7390.122 Arch Linux, BlueMarble 0.85

• On Firefox I set gfx.color_management.mode to 0, but it had no effect

Random pixels show up as "other" even if they share the exact same RGB values as the neighboring pixels in the uploaded image.
Re-encoding the image losslessly has no impact, so at least the "other" pixels are consistent.
If you change even 1 pixel in the test image, the "other" pixels change.

I picked colors from wplace palette. Drew image in Krita and saved it as PNG to generate this test image.
I didn't use wplace image converters, but the hex values of the test image should match wplace palette.

It also happens on other browsers based on Firefox. In my case on LibreWolf.
I tried settign gfx.color_management.mode to 0, 1 and 2 and neither helped.
