How to set an optional filter without using functional variant API?

Curious what I would do in a scenario like the example todos app, if there is an optional filter like in the below scenario:

function App() {
   const [status, setStatus] = useState(undefined)
   
   const q = useLiveQuery((q) =>
    q
      .from({ todos })
      .where(({ todo }) => ...) // I only want this where to run if status is not undefined
      
   return <>
      <select>...</select>
      {q.map((todo) => ...}
    </>
}

Is the recommended, correct API to have 2 liveQueries, one with a where and one without?
