Promote `VarInfo` linked type parameter to a transform strategy field

Instead of storing linked = false/true/nothing, just make the transform strategy used to generate the VarInfo another field inside it.

That not only gives us more information about the VarInfo; but additionally also allows us to greatly simplify get_transform_strategy(::VarInfo) since it will just read it off.
