Current Behavior

If you select ORCID in the metadata form, but leave the Identifier field blank, it can still be submitted to the Vault and published. (Then the contributor is not registered in DataCite.)

Expected Behavior

When submitting an incomplete metadata form (with blank ORCID identifier field), users should get a warning and not be able to submit it to the Vault and publish.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Go to metadata form
2. Enter all required fields, except the 'Identifier' field under 'Person identifier' for type 'ORCID'
3. Submit data to the Vault
4. Submit data for publication

Environment

- Yoda v1.9.5
- Operating System: MacOS Sequoia 15.5
- Browser: Firefox 140.0.2 (aarch64)

Thank you for your report. We have registered this issue internally as YDA-6310. The problem is that the field has been incorrectly marked as mandatory, whereas it is not a mandatory field for contributors.
