Strange scrolling issue on bottom bar

Describe the bug
As of a recent update, it has become possible to accidentally scroll the parent container containing the bottom navigation bar, revealing a large empty space.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. On any page where the bottom navigation bar is visible
2. Swipe to scroll down, starting the swipe over the navigation bar.
3. The parent container scrolls, moving the navigation bar up the screen

Expected behavior
The navigation bar should always remain pinned to the bottom of the screen

Also happens for me with multitouch, only when inside a post :

• put one finger from right hand on screen
• scroll with a finger from my left hand
• screen moves

I had this same issue. I dont know why or if it is a coincidence, but changing the app icon resolved the issue for me.

Just changed my icon and - yep, the issue seems to have stopped happening.

The icon trick hasn't worked worked for me, what are you guys changing it from/to and what happens if you change back?

I have the same issue. Also changing the app icon didn't work.

I've ultimately been able to fix this issue by uninstalling and reinstalling the app. The weird thing is, I first tried clearing app data and that didn't fix the issue. I had to completely uninstall and reinstall from f-droid.

Make sure to backup your settings (bottom of the general tab) before doing this.

I have the same issue. Also changing the app icon didn't work.

Apparently changing the app icon and then waiting a bit seemed to fix the issue for now?

But I'll wait and see @Spatchy thanks for the tip with uninstalling and reinstalling, I'll try it, if the issue comes up again.

After less than 24 hours, the bug has returned. This makes Voyager almost unusable, scrolling to the bottom of any container (e.g. comments) and continuing to scroll triggers the issue, shrinking the usable portion of the viewport.

Same. The icon workaround only lasted for the first session after the change. I also uninstalled / reinstalled from fdroid, and that lasted for like a day.

But the issue always come back. It's a weird one.

Hey all, just an update, I think this bug is caused by some recent Android/Chrome/Capacitor safe area changes. Things are still pretty unstable, especially with Android 16 and Android Webview changes that had a bumpy rollout.

Capacitor has been working through a handful of these issues. Right now, I'm waiting to hear an update on ionic-team/capacitor#8329. After that is addressed I'll be able to upgrade the version of Capacitor and it may help with this issue. If not, please know that safe area fixes and changes are under active development and so this issue should be fixed eventually.

In the meantime you could install an older version of Voyager. https://github.com/aeharding/voyager/releases/tag/2.42.0 should be the latest without this issue.
