Can I Proxy a Container with an IP Different from the Docker Host's IP in the same subnet?

container i want to proxy:

i use the br0 and assign a different ip so i can use defualt ports on my dns resolver (pihole). instead of network_mode: host where these ports is already in use by other processes.

what i get in my tsdproxy logs is
2025/03/16 21:58:14 http: proxy error: dial tcp 192.168.1.53:80: connect: no route to host

question is, how to make tsdproxy reach 192.168.1.53?

I have similar setting with pihole in a macvlan with its own ip – you just need to add the label

tsdproxy.container_port=80

Explanation:
When using a macvlan network (br0), Docker doesn’t expose any published ports because the container has its own IP on the LAN. Since tsdproxy reads container info directly from the Docker socket, it can’t automatically detect which internal port to use.

By adding tsdproxy.container_port=80, you tell tsdproxy exactly which port inside the container it should connect to. That’s enough for it to reach your Pi-hole at 192.168.1.53:80.
