[Ideas] Availability of GPBackup_Manager in CB2.0 for better managing backups

Hi,

To enhance gpbackup monitoring and management can GPBackup_Manager utility be added in CB2.0 ?

It would be a good enhancement considering CICD and enhancing the availability.

AFAIK, gpbackup_manager is proprietary software included in the commercial edition of VMware Greenplum. It is not available in the current cloudberry-backup source code repository and thus is not part of the open-source offering.

I agree we should implement gpbackup_manager-like behavior to manage backup metadata and data. We can either create a new tool or add these features to cloudberry-backup.

Since we have already addressed the known bugs in cloudberry-backup, I think our current focus should be on getting a stable version released first. After that, we can consider implementing similar features.

Hi, @NadeemRajput-sys! At our installation we are using https://github.com/wal-g/wal-g for Greenplum / Cloudberry. It can backup/restore clusters, manage backups in storage, support Point-in-Time-Recovery, etc.

There are couple known issues:

• documentation oriented to developers rather than users - fill an issue (in wal-g project) if you need some particular clarification.
• we haven't tested PAX storage yet
