Port 1.x branch so we can create a 1.x release #4
Description
We'll need a release that matches the latest Drupal 7 release so that people coming from Drupal 7 get exactly the same thing on Backdrop.
Keeping the 2.x branch around in Backdrop could be useful in the future, but we need the 1.x release first.
We may need to port and test the 1.x branch separately from everything that's here now, since the code looks pretty different.
