[BUG] Don't understand explorer paths #281

Description

Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the existing issues

Current Behavior

WDM is constantly getting folder paths for distros incorrect.

Image

Here you can see the path to the ZProjects - Debian Trixie (testing) is \\?\C:\WSL2-Distros\zprojects___Debian_Trixie__testing_ in the regex which is correct. The .vhdx is at C:\WSL2-Distros\zprojects___Debian_Trixie__testing_\ext4.vhdx but WDM when I click on "open folder" it takes me to C:\Users\bhare\OneDrive\Documents\

Image

This issue is even more confusing after Imported a new project (in order to move the the vhdx after hearing about data loss using WDM), command: wsl --import ZProjects "Z:\WSL\Distros\ZProjects" "Z:\WSL\Distros\ext4.vhdx" --version 2 --vhd where Z:\WSL\Distros\ext4.vhdx is a copy of C:\WSL2-Distros\zprojects___Debian_Trixie__testing_\ext4.vhdx. So the registry is correct in the location, but Zprojects is saying that distro's folder is C:\WSL2-Distros\ZProjects which I don't even recall ever making and its empty

Expected Behavior

When clicking on open in file explorer, I expect it to take me to the folder that has the vhdx according to regedit entries or whatever the source of truth is
