NVidia GTX 1080 GPU not showing information

Hi All,
So, I'm trying to add both of my GPU's to my Conky -all configuration. I have found on the page conky.cc/variables, there is an nvidia variable I can use and it looks like I can put something like nvidia gpuutil nv134 and I've tried that to no avail. I've tried googling the answer but all I can find is things that state nvidia-smi needs to be installed, which Debian doesn't have in it's repositories.
So if someone could show me how to do it (you might want to explain it like I'm 5, I don't do programming) and where in conky.conf it's supposed to go. That would be fantastic! If there's an easy way to have Conky launch at start up that would be even better.
If it means anything my GPU's are GTX1080 cards that are bridged with Debian's nvidia-kernel-commonand glx-alternative-nvidia and nvidia-open-kernel-source packages installed. I also have DKMS installed if that means anything for this project.

UPDATE:
I now have the nvidia-smi package it's part of the nvidia-kernel-dkms package.
However: I still need to have someone explain what I'm supposed to do to have the information from the GPUs display in Conky.

If I add nvidia gpuutil 0, to the conky.config section I get this error:

'/etc/conky/conky.conf' modified, reloading...
conky: Syntax error (/etc/conky/conky.conf:54: '}' expected (to close '{' at line 17) near 'gpuutil') while reading config file.
conky: Assuming it's in old syntax and attempting conversion.
conky: [string "..."]:148: attempt to index a nil value (local 'settings')

If I try adding ${color orchid}GPU Usage:${nvidia gpuutil} to the conky.text section it just shows 0 .
Again what am I doing wrong?
