• learn about needs, pain points, and desires
• present and collect technical feedback

WalletConnect v2 Reminder

If you built using Wallet Connect v1, you need to update to v2.
It may be a big lift for you. See this forum post: https://forum.celo.org/t/walletconnect-v1-to-v2-migration/5184/2

Meeting notes:

• so far no dapp has upgraded (from Valora side)
  • Jean has branch on churritofi using react-celo with WCv2 support
• no need to upgrade WCv2 from Node Finance perspective (native integration in app)
• not yet on Moola Market radar
• some dapps reluctant to upgrade because of future WC monetisation (moving when others move)
• some concerns about WCv2 monetisation and need to pay to have API key

[Sunsetting] Dappkit

Meeting notes:

• dappkit was initial tool to communicate between Valora and dapps (on the same device)
• this is deprecated for >1 year, almost everyone moved away to WalletConnect (apart from Revvo)
• Makes sense to remove this from Celo libraries.

Meeting notes:

• @fbaud uses contractkit, but very lightweight use to connect to WalletConnect. So not really using contractkit itself. Very happy to migrate to another tool if we provide migration guidance.
  • would not want to integrate react-celo because of the bundle size. "1MB is an issue for us".
• @jeanregisser (Churritofi), use contractkit. Mostly handy because of direct core contract support for staking. But might be less relevant since users can now use stCELO. Would be happy to move with a migration guide. Good idea to deprecate this because the contractkit and react-celo bundle size is min 1MB. So would love smaller bundle size.
  • what's handy is the ability to call contract directly (e.g. ABI, TypeScript types, core contract address changes in registry contract). It's much easier now with WAGMI too.

EIP 1193: Ethereum Provider JavaScript API

Implementation details:

• cLabs team was focusing on WalletConnect client
• maybe scope should be to comply with EIP 1193: Ethereum Provider JavaScript API
• This works with EthersJS (Jean)

User problem:

• Valora wants to let users add arbitrary tokens.
  • this relates to EIP 737: wallet_watchAsset RPC Method
  • this relates to EIP 1193: Ethereum Provider JavaScript API
