Missing language server in-line/in-lay hints

I am using neovim and lazyvim plugin manager with verible language server. It seems to be working as I can see different warnings/errors and diagnostics published, but I do not see the hints that correspond to the different warnings. Turning on in-lay hints in lspconfig doesn't seem to change anything. Is this something that is still supported in the new nvim lspconfig? Thanks in advance.
