I have a BME280 with a TTGO T-beam

BME280 --- TTGO T-beam --- OLED
VCC -> VCC -> VCC
G -> G -> G
SDA -> 21 -> SDA
SDL -> 22 -> SDL

I get in the serial

I can not figure out where else to change setting to get the BME280 to work.

Did you enable the sensor in the acutual used hal file? This probably won't be generic.h, but ttgobeam10.h.
Please post your hal file here.

The ttgobeam10.h only have BME680 and not BME280.

You must modify the ttgobeam10.h file, using the example entry for BME280 from generic.h
