it worked for a long time, then suddenly stop at a recent update (i can't telle which, it's been a few month since i procrastinate opening that issue).

i've found a similar issue, but no solution there worked for me

Do you use it as a rofi mode or do you directly call rofimoji? Have you set use-icons?
