Call for maintainers #8
Description
Since I've taken my last lecture at TU Wien, I'm looking for someone who is still enrolled and can take over maintenance.
However, there is no need to panic, the calendar will not go anywhere (even if I cannot find anyone) and as long as I can I will continue to host it.
The task
To be fair maintenance is really simple and most of the time I run a couple of scripts for autogenerated resources (like the room or lecture list) every month or so and upgrade dependencies. Also it pays of that the app is really simple.
I don't expect the workload to get much higher than that, I just strongly believe that apps are much better if the people that maintain them also use them. And obviously if something should go wrong you are much more likely to figure that out if you actively use the app.
I don't have any new features planned but if you have something in mind, that's obviously fine.
Who I am looking for
Honestly just someone who I can get along with, who is still enrolled and who is somewhat technical.
You don't have to own a server, the app can continue to run on my VPS. You don't have to be a Python Core Developer, if you are somewhat sufficient in one language you will easily get the rest.
And you don't have to figure everything out on your own, we can have a short video call where I show you around the codebase and answer all questions and even after that I'm not going anywhere.
The Lonely Alternative
If I don't find anyone, I will continue to host the app. But at some point my TISS account will be locked and I will no longer be able to test myself if it works. Eventually the app will break, when TISS changes something and I won't be able to tell (I mean they haven't in the last 3 years but who knows). Right now I still have a few friends enrolled, who will tell me but they too are getting fewer by the semester. In the end I will have to rely on GitHub issues.
I'm fine with this approach, it's just not quite the quality of service I would like to offer.
