We have a project that uses it and it will not work in Big Sur because the version required of osxfuse is not compatible with Big Sur and more recent OS X releases.

I got rid of the libfuse dependencies. I need enough of fuse-native to work to support WebSocketFS, which is going to be "like SSHFS but using nodejs and websockets", so I can attempt to fix issues...

I am currently using the refinio fork. It works fine on Linux.

For macOS I have hardcoded a fix in my fork.

I'm just looking into @cocalc/fuse-native and https://github.com/sagemathinc/websocketfs to create a basic cloud virtual drive.

I am evaluating the creation of an open source nodejs module to provide a multi-platform way to handle virtual filesystems.

FUSE seems to be the way for Linux and Mac, and for Windows I need to evaluate the best approach among the different options available, including:

• github.com/dokan-dev/dokany
• github.com/ok-nick/wincs

I would like to cordially ask if any of you have made progress on the FUSE side, which packages you are using, possible recommendations, etc

My main goal is to start a new open source alternative (MIT license) for Owncloud, Nextcloud, etc, and a multi-platform abstraction for virtual filesystems is an obligatory step I should solve.

The plan is to do it in NodeJS and wrap as a single binary for instant deploy, thus, no need for PHP and cumbersome setups.

Another reason is because Owncloud, Nextcloud, Seafile and Pydio become too complex and are far from a simple and essential way to have file sync between desktop and cloud.

I personally haven't concerned myself with macos support so far, so don't have any data about that.

I'm excited by your interest in websocketfs. Let me know if you have any questions or comments! It's been used quite a bit in production on https://cocalc.com during the last year (on Ubuntu linux).

I did some small fixes in my fork that I published under @zkochan/fuse-native. It works fine with all the latest versions of Node.js and on macOS, Linux. Nothing to complain about. No plans to switch to anything else.
