AP/Station mode

Hi @geo-tp ,

looking through main.cpp I found your comment that you plan to implement AP mode which would be great as it would make remote use possible outdoors. I just found out that it is possible to run an ESP32 in AP and Station mode (WiFi.mode(WIFI_AP_STA);) at the same time which moreover would allow to use the wifi tools on a network while being connected to the cardputer via its own hotspot. Is this what you are planning to do?

Yes, it was more or less planned, but in the end, it doesn't add much value. You can do the opposite: create a hotspot on your phone to connect to, which is more or less the same thing (although AP mode can make sense in some use cases)

I was just thinking how useful AP mode would be with a captive portal in a lab where the AP SSID is hidden but a qr code allows the engineer to connect when they use it. Would work well in a team environment and AP mode also doesn't require security audit to join the lab network nor a serial session to setup to each person's phone/laptop.

I'm not sure I understand the question. As mentioned in the wiki, some WiFi commands cannot be used depending on the terminal's connection type.

For example, you cannot sniff WiFi while connected to the web cli, you will have to use serial/standalone mode for that
