Why should this be included in the repository?

Rust based alternative for sudo. Would sit along side sudo but can be replace sudo commands by using sudo-rs.

i.e. sudo-rs eopkg up
su-rs - person

Already used in Ubuntu as main sudo. (and AerynOS too)

Are we allowed to redistribute it?

Apache 2.0, MIT

What kind of user will use this package, and how many users do you think will use this package?

Anyone using sudo. Also anyone using su to switch users.

Why replace a tool that has proven itself over decades with one that still has to prove its value over the years? What is the advantage?

I'll respond in kind instead of being dismissive.
Nobody’s talking about a wholesale replacement—just offering a second package in the repos.

sudo-rs is offered in Arch, Fedora, Nix as options. This would be the same. It's an option. AerynOS which is in alpha but is very much the atomic sister OS to Solus already uses sudo-rs as their main sudo.
