As you can see in the video, the __init__ file was moved back for no reason and excluded from the commit, forcing me to amend.

This has been happening to me across all repositories I use gitbutler with, with 90% of the commits. It's extremely frustrating and I loose a lot of time because of it...

Thanks a lot for reporting, and sorry for your hassle.

In the latest Nightly build I am seemingly unable to reproduce it. That might mean that it's fixed, or that there is more to it.

When uncommitting, I would have thought the files stay assigned, but maybe doing that was never implemented so it's unrelated to this issue.

The log contains no ERROR line either, and I wouldn't know what to look for if something doesn't work with assignments.

Could you try the latest nightly to see if this is fixed there?

I managed to reproduce the issue once more, though it took me a bit longer. (when I go off screen, it's to fix the line too long issue on my IDE in my other screen.)

I recompressed the important bits of the video to be able to put them here and adjusted the title to claim it's related to hooks.

And this makes more sense, as the pre-commit hook support means the Git index will be manipulated, and I have a feeling that this affects what's committed and how assignments work.

Just CC @mtsgrd, while thinking that I should someday take a look myself.

@Byron any idea on how this might be fixable? It's very much an annoying issue (and I am surprised I am the only one to get it)
