I set an api key for openrouter, how do I use it instead of other providers?

I got an openrouter api key and set it up in the settings, and deleted the other api keys since I want to simplify. however when I try to use it it asks me to set an api key for the chosen model. There’s no “openrouter version” for any given model. how do I actually use openrouter for e.g. gemini 2.5 pro?

Could you check if the provider ID for the model you’re using is set to "openrouter"? If everything looks correct but the issue still persists, please share a screenshot of the Chat Models section in your settings—this will help us troubleshoot further.

I'm having the same issue, it's not exactly clear how to use openrouter after you've put your API key in there. I figured that the plugin would realise that openrouter API is configured and would use the model I selected in chat or in the settings. I'm getting prompted to setup an anthropic API key for example. Am I doing something wrong?

I've tried to add a custom model with openrouter being the provider but I get this error. I tried using the model anthropic/claude-3.7-sonnet, I don't have any tools selected.

EDIT: It seems to be an issue with trying to use claude-3.7-sonnet model with open router
