Problem Statement

It's seems like global proxy doesn't take effect on smart composer both on "connect your subscription" and chatting, though it is said that all network request via obsidian's fetch goes behind proxy.

Proposed Solution

I wonder if it is possible to set proxy method by smart composer? Or just follow obsidian's setting(All my other traffic goes behind proxy correctly)? thx

Why the global proxy plugin doesn't work with Smart Composer:

For certain network requests (particularly subscription-related and some API calls), we use Node.js's native http/https modules directly instead of Obsidian's built-in fetch or requestUrl. This is necessary because Obsidian's network APIs are blocked by CORS policies on some endpoints.

The global proxy plugin likely hooks into Obsidian's network layer, so it can't intercept requests made through Node's native modules.

Question:

Could you share why you need proxy support? (e.g., regional API restrictions, corporate network, etc.) This would help us understand the use case better.

Thanks for the explanation. In my case, it seems to be an issue with the GFW.

Full proxy support would require significant changes, but we're considering a simpler alternative: allowing you to set a custom Base URL for subscription providers (Claude Plan, OpenAI Plan, Gemini Plan).

Would this approach work for your situation, or do you specifically need app-level proxy configuration?
