Is it possible to disable the debug break on target reset?

Is it possible to switch off the automatic breakpoint that happens when the target board is reset?

My system has two processors so I use two debug probes and two instances of VSCode. When one of the processors is restarted, it makes the other processor restart (by design) to ensure they are in sync. However, that causes the second processor to hit the automatic breakpoint and stop running, so I have to switch instances to continue.

There is no option to control the break-on-reset behaviour at the moment. We're aware that the VS Code debugging experience is not great in scenarios involving multiple processors and/or probes, and it's something we may look into improving by e.g. enabling you to start, stop and reset all processors together like you can in Embedded Workbench.

You may be able to get the behaviour you're after with a C-SPY macro. The following macro uses the execUserReset hook to start execution immediately after a reset is performed (but not on the first reset right when the session is started):

    {

    }

    {

You can register this macro by saving it as runAfterReset.mac and adding the following to your launch.json config:

            "setupMacros": ["${workspaceFolder}/runAfterReset.mac"],

As an aside, VS Code can run multiple debug sessions in the same instance, so you should be able to debug both processors in the same instance. If you create a launch.json file with one configuration for each processor, you should be able to launch both configurations one after another in the same window.

Thanks you for getting back to me. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work. i can see the macro is loaded in the debug console:

Flash loading completed successfully.
Loaded macro file: C:\Code\Freescale\XTPC_IAR9\XTPCMotor/runAfterReset.mac

But it still hits the breakpoint every time.
