Summary

I just want to learn what the use cases for this software are? As an icloud and Apple Photos user, I assume the synchronization occurs automagically, is that not true?

Seems like a very popular lib.

It allows you to backup your iPhoto library (in full quality) manually without needing to export from Photos.

Useful if something would to ever happen to your iCloud account and you get locked out or something ever happens to your photos.

(Personally) I use this to backup my library to a NAS, then I offload a copy to Backblaze B2.. for about $2-3USD/month. Peace of mind should something ever happen to my library on the Apple side.
