Misc tweaks

Bunch of random stuff:

• include pytest-clarity, it's way too useful
• switch docs env to use "python3" not python3.6 (investigate what this would break on CI) since various distros ship default python newer than 3.6
• why do we even run docs env in CI. Don't we have a RTD build badge?
