nnn preview_tui: image preview stays empty until mouse/key input

I’m having an issue with nnn on Fedora using Kitty and the preview_tui plugin.

The preview split window does appear, but:
• When I select an image file, the preview area is empty
• The image only appears after I move the mouse or press any key
• After it appears once, switching to another image repeats the same problem

So the image preview only renders after some user input, not immediately when I highlight the file.

Kitty image preview (icat) works normally outside nnn

It seems like the terminal is not refreshing/redrawing the preview pane until an input event happens.

Has anyone seen this behavior or knows what might cause Kitty to delay rendering until input?

Any help or pointers appreciated.

This is kitty bug. for temporary solution use another terminal eg. alacritty and tmux for preview, this is supported on preview-tui plugin and is faster than kitty own icat.
