Transfer the remaining Porch improvements from Porch to kpt

This task covers the work to move the remaining Porch improvements to kpt code from Porch to kpt. Much of the kpt codebase is cloned in Porch and improvements have been made in the Porch cloed code that must be merged back to kpt.

Once this happens, the cloed code in Porch can be removed.
