Sideband messages sent to Propagation Net never get delivered

I'm using Sideband on Android. Direct messages work correctly but "indirect" ones stay on Propagation Net indefinitely, even if I exchange direct messages with the same recipient afterwards. How do I debug this?

The 'recipient' needs to be seen by the propagation node for delivery to be attempted. So they need to announce and have the prop node see them. The prop node needs to have discovered a path to the recipient to attempt delivery. (So your nodes direct deliveries have no impact on the prop node succeeding in delivery or not.)

Are you testing in a simple environment locally or is this an external prop node you don't control?

i can confirm the issue OP is having on sideband, it's not an issue of the recipient being seen, meshchat works perfectly in sending messages to the recipient through propagation nodes, but sideband gets stuck quite often and requires either sending directly or resending through the prop network a few (sometimes more than a few) times, i tested by sending a message from meshchat to sideband and then trying to reply with sideband, i also tested between desktop sideband and mobile sideband and in the case where the sender and receiver were using sideband i ran into the issue in both ends

both were tested on the latest version of sideband as of writing this (1.7.0) on windows and android using the rmap.world node, meshchat was also the latest version (2.2.1), both were connected to the same wifi network too

yes, as long as the node can be reached it should be fine, you might need to press the "sync messages" button in sideband afterwards to receive it

on another note, it would be p cool if meshchat actually autoselected prop nodes
