I've been using this plugin for a while and sorry if this isn't the best way to do this but I have a question about some functionality:

• Is it possible to loop through metadata and add formatting to each element?

Specific example: I want to create a list of attendees for a meeting using the {{recipients}} field and add checkboxes to them, so it would look like the below:

Attendees

• A a@a.com
• B b@b.com
• etc.

Is this something I can already do and I just keep screwing up/don't know the syntax? Is it something that could be added or something that can't be done at all?

It's not possible yet, but it could be added surely. It's just not trivial, because it needs to be implemented "by hand". AFAIK, template engines that support iterating over lists (like nunchuks for example) can't be used in Thunderbird addons:

I won't have the time to add support for lists soon. But I will leave the issue open to have a reminder or if someone wants to implement it.

Appreciate the response. Unfortunately my java is largely non-existant otherwise I'd offer to do it myself, out of curiosity though would it be difficult to allow formatting around the email body when it's exported?

Currently I manually stick the message body between an Expand/Collapse header:

If text could be added around the message body through the plugin this could add a bunch of other stuff other than my example. Would this be an easy addition?

If it was fairly trivial I'd be happy to give it a go myself as I'd like to learn a bit of java just might not be done quickly or elegantly on my part haha.

It would be simpler to implement, but still not trivial. It needs to be backwards compatible, a test case should be added and I need to review and release it. So at the end, I guess it's better to implement it myself (since I'm also a bit picky about the code :D).

There is a way you wouldn't need to bother about most of the things mentioned above, though: As this project is open source, you can clone it, do modifications and learn about Javascript. It's possible to build it locally and use your own locally built version in Thunderbird (see here). But setting up all the tools may take some time and fiddling. I'm a Python guy and don't like the Javascript ecosystem myself :D

Side note: Java and Javascript are different things. This project uses mostly Typescript (that bases on Javascript).

Perfectly understandable, even experienced developers can screw things up, especially when using languages they don't know! My background is C++ and I hate pointers....

I'll fork it and see what I can do, always like lerarning new stuff. Thanks again for the help and advice :).
