[READ FIRST] Troubleshooting BedJet Bluetooth Connectivity Issues Before Opening an Issue #14

Issue Summary

⚠️ Important

BedJet devices only allow one active Bluetooth connection at a time. If the BedJet mobile app is open (or running in the background) and connected to the device, Home Assistant will not be able to connect to it. The BedJet remote is not affected by this limitation, as it uses RF rather than Bluetooth.

Before proceeding, make sure the BedJet app is fully closed. If you need to use the app (for example, to adjust biorhythm programs), temporarily disable the Home Assistant integration.

If your BedJet device is not being discovered (no devices found) or you are experiencing connectivity issues, the problem is most likely related to your Bluetooth adapter, interference, or system configuration—not the integration itself.

To reduce duplicate reports, please follow these troubleshooting steps before opening a new issue.

Step 1: Review the Official Bluetooth Troubleshooting Guide

Home Assistant provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for Bluetooth-related issues:
🔗 Home Assistant Bluetooth Troubleshooting

Make sure you have followed the recommendations in this guide.

Step 2: Common Causes and Solutions

1. Bluetooth Adapter Issues

  • Built-in Bluetooth adapters (e.g., on Raspberry Pi) are often unreliable.
  • If using a USB Bluetooth adapter, try connecting it via an extension cable to reduce interference.
  • Some adapters have poor range—consider upgrading to a more reliable adapter or proxy (see below).

2. Interference and Placement

  • Bluetooth operates on 2.4 GHz, which can be affected by Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 ports, and other wireless devices.
  • Try moving the adapter to a different port or placing it further away from other electronics.
  • If using a Bluetooth proxy, ensure it's positioned close enough to the BedJet.

3. Consider Upgrading to an Ethernet-Based Bluetooth Proxy

  • Many users (myself included) have experienced better reliability using an Ethernet-based Bluetooth proxy instead of relying on local adapters.
  • Recommended option: Ethernet Bluetooth Proxy
  • This has significantly improved the connection stability with my own BedJet.

Step 3: Enable Debug Logging for More Insights

If you're still experiencing issues, you can enable debug logging for Bluetooth via the UI:

  1. Open Home Assistant
  2. Go to SettingsDevices & servicesIntegrationsBluetooth
  3. Click Enable debug logging

Check the logs for errors or connectivity attempts that might reveal the underlying issue.

Step 4: Still Having Issues?

If you've tried all the above and still cannot connect your BedJet, open a new issue only if you have ruled out hardware and interference problems.

When creating an issue, include the following details:

  • Home Assistant version
  • Hardware (e.g., Raspberry Pi 4, NUC, etc.)
  • Bluetooth adapter (built-in, USB model, or proxy)
  • BedJet model
  • Logs (with debug logging enabled)
  • Steps you have already attempted

Following these steps will help ensure that new issues are meaningful and actionable, rather than related to common Bluetooth limitations.

Thanks for your cooperation! 🚀
