Description
What is the bug or the crash? What were your expectations and what actually happened?
I am working on an iPad mini 6th generation.
When taking an image for a note, the orientation of the device (and therefore the camera) is not working correctly (mirroring the reality in the angle you see it). It is correct in the standard portrait mode, but all the other directions are wrong. It also differs between preview and the final image in the note.
- device turned 90°: preview image turned 180°
- device turned 180°: preview image turned 90°
- device turned 270°: preview image turned 180°
(all angles clockwise)
The image is finally saved always unaltered in the standard portrait mode orientation, leading to wrong orientation of the images contents.
What behaviour I would expect:
- in preview mode: no alteration of the image (I turn the camera, the object is not changed, so the image view should not be turned).
- saved image: turn the image by the measured angle. Currently it is saved unchanged, leading to a wrong orientation.
Steps to reproduce the issue
In a QField Project, select Note Layer.
Click + Button.
In the "Add features on Notes" pop-up, click the camera icon next to the Media field.
Turn the iPad to different orientations > camera image shown is wrong.
(Take an image and save it > image is saved in a new but still wrong orientation.)
Version
4.0.5
Operating system name
Other (please specify in additional context)
Operating system version
iPad OS 26.1 (23B85)
Reinstall QField
- I have a fresh install of the latest QField version, but the problem persists.
- Problem can be reliably reproduced, doesn't happen randomly.
- Problem happens with all files and projects, not only some files or projects.
Additional context
iPad turned 270° clockwise. Preview image and final image together with the context.
