I'm Subhra Jyoti Das, a second-year B.Tech student at IIT Roorkee with a strong foundation in machine learning and deep learning. I'm passionate about MLOps and edge deployment.

I'm excited to contribute to OpenVINO for GSoC 2026, especially in areas like the Model Server (OVMS), model compression (NNCF), or the Python/C++ APIs.

Getting Started with OpenVINO

1. Build from source first - This teaches you the project structure better than just reading docs. Follow the build guide.

2. Good first issues - Filter issues by good first issue label. For your interests:

   • OVMS issues: Check the model server repo
   • NNCF: Check nncf repo issues

3. Run the tutorials - The notebooks are excellent for understanding the Python API.

Tool Tip

For navigating a large C++/Python codebase like OpenVINO, I'd recommend Cursor IDE. It's VS Code with AI built-in - you can ask it questions like "how does the inference engine work?" and it'll search the codebase and explain.
