Hi @BumbleSusan! I'm Dosu and I’m helping the Trilium team. Yes! You can do this using the How to set it up:
For example, if you have a "Meeting Notes" template and want all children of a "Meetings" folder to use it, add Note: If you need templates to apply at multiple levels (like Year > Month > Day in a journal), you'll need to configure the attribute at each level separately, or use To reply, just mention @dosu. How did I do? Good | Irrelevant | Incorrect | Verbose | Hallucination | Report 🐛 | Other |

Is there any way to create a child note based on an assigned template of the parent note? At the moment I can only seem to do this by right-clicking on the parent, selecting Insert Child Note and picking the template from the list. I'd like to just click on the + and it knows to use a specific template.
is seems like it should be possible but my reading of the help files doesn't offer me any clues around templating.
It seem templating is very manual -- as in you create a blank note and then change the template.
