Recharge model in semi-confined aquifer and amediterranean region #1092

Hello everyone, According to the "Pastas: Open Source Software for the Analysisof Groundwater Time Series" article, and I cite: "For observation wells in more arid climates or in areaswith deeper groundwater tables, recharge can not beestimated as a linear relationship of rainfall and referenceevaporation, but a more complicated recharge modelis needed (e.g., Berendrecht et al. 2004; Peterson and Western 2014)." It would be useful to know your opinions on how to model recharge if with the conventional recharge model is enough or if there is a better option to model the recharge in semi-confined aquifers? I am modeling at the moment a semi-confined aquifer in the mediterranean region. Thank you! |

Our suggestion would be to try different methods of modeling the response to recharge. Build a model with a linear recharge model and one with non-linear recharge model and compare the results! And check here for more details on non-linear recharge models : https://pastas.readthedocs.io/stable/examples/non_linear_recharge.html |
