I updated to the latest source and noticed the new wo1c_energy feature.

I can see the new values being reported:

This was taken just a few minutes after midnight, and the values don’t make sense compared to anything I can find in ViCare.
11/15 kWh right after the new day starts? That seems far too high — the energy consumption shouldn’t be anywhere near that after just a few minutes.

And yes, the values changed at midnight:

About ten hours later, I get this:

Real electrical consumption for the same period: 10.4 kWh
No domestic hot water was produced during this time.

So at the moment I’m not sure how these reported WO1C energy values should be interpreted.

Also, I’m not sure what this line in the comments means:

What does “€N” stand for?
Do I have to write the € as well?

I use wo1c_energy = 1 for now

as you can see from nose's graifc there is always some strange behaviour after midnight. witching hour? This is Viessmann, I only read those values, The ways of Viessman are inscrutable.

About ten hours later, ... No domestic hot water was produced during this time.

From nose's graifc you can see that the values seem to be weekly counters (Oct 6. was a monday).

What does “€N” stand for?

element of the set of natural numbers. ∈N but I was missing the ∈. So if poll_interval is 30 secs and you set wo1c_energy = 10 the values get read every 5 minutes.

There are a lot of thinks that do not really make sense with these units ;)

I will log the data for a while and check if it starts to make sense.

You removed the option from the settings_ini.py, but it seems to be still available within wo1c_energy.py

There are a lot of thinks that do not really make sense with these units ;)

I got a Hiking TOMZN DTS238-7 (that's the big brother of the single phase meters) that nobody ever cared to support in Home Assistant and inserted it into the power line to the outdoor unit. I don't know what exactly appears in Viessmann's counters but it is not even close to what I'm measuring. It was to be expected that there is a power supply running all the time -- there is a computer in there, after all -- but it is consuming more than 30W. Constantly. If we assume a year to take 8760 hours, that's nearly 263 kWh for a task a student could handle with an ESP32 and a solid state switch on the mainframe they seem to need to control a bunch of sensors, two ventilators, two pumps and a handful of valves. I bet I could run the thing on ESPHome if you asked me to.

Sorry. I'm getting carried away but wasting energy and not even owning up to it makes me angry. I hate liars.

@noseshimself : No problem, I can really go into detail on this topic as well!

• Circulation pump: In my factory default configuration it was set to 100% in every operating mode

• 100–110 W * 24 * 365 = ~900 kWh/year

My heating circuit pump now runs constantly at 45% (down to ~50W), and during heating operation it can modulate between 30–100% based on the return/supply temperature spread. Still about 450kWh per year!

• Compressor pre-heating: After 8 hours without compressor operation, it gets heated.

• Especially in summer, with only 1–2 domestic hot water cycles per day, this can result in 12–16 hours of pre-heating
• 60 W * 12 * 280 = ~200 kWh or more per year
• It even gets to the point where more electricity is used per day to heat the compressor than to actually heat the domestic hot water
• No control at all, no temperature-dependent logic for the heating
• Why 8 hours? In winter, the compressor will always start cold anyway

The best part: none of this is included in the COP, of course!

The power consumption of the controller is almost the least of all these issues.

it's not the daily values, it is the counters 1/2/3/... days back, so if you record the counters, there is no additional information.

Nevertheless if you want to have it, comment out lines lines 452, 453 and put a for loop in there:

Is there any documentation on how to use this feature?

Is it enough to enable it with wo1c_energy = 1 (for example) or anything else should be configured before turning it on?

I've read different feedback regards this feature in discussions, from someone stating that returned values matching the ones of the Vicare App, while others saying something else...

I am not sure what to expect from this feature, but am willing to get the most data I can from my system 😄 So maybe small explanation in Wiki would help others too to get the expectations and possibilities right?

Values seem to be OK, as end of day values.
You have to create something that pics the last value of the day. That can be used for stuff

can't you get the 'last value of the (previous) day' by reading the '1-day-back'?

@nobwyn sorry, I can't do documentation since I implemented the functionality according to some thread someone pointed me to, but I do not have a wo1c, so I don't know what it does ;-)
