Trademark Violation

Calling this Github Desktop Plus is definitely a trademark violation.

In what way? GitHub itself is trademarked, however GitHub Desktop in itself is not. It is community driven and is open source

I'm certainly not a copyright expert, so I won't claim to know whether a fork counts as a trademark violation or not.

What I do know is:

1. This is a fork of "GitHub Desktop" with a few modifications. It's still 95% GitHub Desktop, so I think it makes sense to call it "GitHub Desktop" instead of changing the branding.
2. Replacing all instances of "GitHub Desktop" in the app's GUI would be a pain at best and impossible at worst. I think it would be weird to have one app name for the .desktop file / project and a different name in the actual UI.
3. This project is FOSS and not built for profit. If I was trying to make money off GitHub's image, I think my defense would be much weaker.
4. At the bottom of the readme there is a disclaimer:

   Keep in mind that this version is not endorsed by GitHub, and it's aimed at power users with technical knowledge. If you're looking for a polished and stable product, I recommend using the official GitHub Desktop app instead.

With that said, I agree that maybe we should add this disclaimer at the top of the readme instead. What do you think?

Also, @indolering is there a specific reason you are making this claim? Or you just happened to stumble upon the repo and wanted to let us know?

I have added a disclaimer at the top of the readme to clarify that this project is not an official GitHub product.

I just stumbled across it. Even if they sue you (IIRC) it's tied to the amount of money they lose/you make (which is none). The standard solution is to scrub all mentions.

I don't think you need to worry about legal issues but it helps to differentiate your product, as it is NOT just a repack.
