Cannot authenticate to Github on Fedora KDE

The problem

When attempting to login to Github in the app, the link opens, and lets me verify on the website, but the app just gets stuck forever loading.

Release version

Version 3.5.5-beta2 (x64) (Using the flatpak version)

Operating system

Fedora 43

Steps to reproduce the behavior

1. Attempt to fetch origin on a private repository
2. The application prompts you to log into Github
3. Press "Continue with browser", and follow the steps on the website
4. The app loads forever, while the website says it has completed.

This was working perfectly fine a couple days ago, so i'm not really sure what could've gone wrong. I don't remember messing with any packages or anything, but who knows... : P

This happens when the callback from your browser is not sent to the app.
The most likely cause is that the URI scheme used by GitHub Desktop for authorization is not linked to the correct program.

To troubleshoot, you should run these commands and tell me what was printed:

Ran the command, and the response is as follows.

From this output, I assume that running:

xdg-mime query default x-scheme-handler/x-github-desktop-auth

Doesn't print anything, right?

If so, you can fix it by creating the association manually:

xdg-mime default io.github.pol_rivero.github-desktop-plus.desktop x-scheme-handler/x-github-desktop-auth

unfortunately did not fix the issue : (

the command ran (albeit with no output) and even after restarting the app i still get stuck loading

That's really strange. Could you try running this command?

xdg-open "x-github-desktop-auth://test"

If the URI is associated correctly, it should open GitHub Desktop.

"The app" is GitHub Desktop or the browser? To be safe, after running "xdg-mime default ..." you could try restarting the entire computer.

Just figured out the issue! I had an outdated "io.github.shiftey.Desktop.desktop" file in my ~/.local/share/applications folder. Deleting it solved the issue, apologizes for the trouble!
