New Business

  • Smera to present website designs and get final questions answered
    • final design review (most of the meeting)
      • perhaps: tone down the chapter pages to not pull away from chapters that have implemented their own sites
      • less blue than original
    • will make some edits
    • Ask: to async give feedback on gdoc for website scope & reqs for handoff to implementers
  • Spreadshirt shop closed down (due to not cool AI policies) - should we find a new vendor?
    • any ideas of vendors who have decent policies?
    • Phyllis + PSF has been researching swag sites that work for global needs
      • if just US market, can use what PyOhio is using - Custom Ink (US only)
      • tariffs and taxes and everything else complicates finding an ideal vendor
      • @BethanyG to ask the project she works on what they use

Old Business: Follow up items from prior meeting:

  • Note-taking for council meetings, and how updates and questions from the community are handled

    • turn Gemini on as first pass? do we have access to this? (afak, after doing some digging we do not have access with our current permissions. Whomever administers our account at the PSF would need to turn the feature on. -BethanyG)
    • @BethanyG to try PoC with slack integration & email
    • @BethanyG to follow up with Ee to ask them about turning on Gemini
  • Governance:

    • Next step: feel out draft charter
      • @trallard to go on leave Nov 3rd
      • need to get as much as we can done for the drafting
        • have most of the first draft done by next Council meeting
    • have charter ready for elections
    • goal of elections in Q1 2026? or by PyCon 2026?
      • how to we take a stab at ensuring pyladies members vote and not randos?
        • will this push back the goal of election by a certain time?
        • need to have enough lead time to have candidates be known, to have election be known
      • promote election during PyLadiesCon
      • should we have the charter "ratified" by community before election?
  • Website next steps/proposed frameworks (postponed from July meeting)

    • initial meeting about processes & ways of working
    • @trallard schedule final design review with Smera
    • @econchick to do an initial reach out/reply
    • 1-pager doc of of scope then reach out
    • after doc, schedule a kick-off chat
  • Invite to sponsor PyCon Ghana (email received July 16th)

  • taking questions from the community - how/where do we answer

    • @BethanyG to volunteer to monitor, announce in slack
    • council members should agree: are we going to say we'll answer once a month? or as needed? or what else?
    • @BethanyG to add response to the discussion

For next time:

From Phyllis:

  1. PSF decided not to take an NSF grant due to negative impact on our DE&I programs including PyLadies
  2. Phyllis requested a CiviCRM form for PyLadies grants
